OH MY FUCKING GOD.

July 24th 2025

I guess I like Superhero movies, to an extent. I think Deadpool is badass and funny (I know thats a reddit take of me whatever I really dont care tbh) I ADORE the Spiderverse movies, and I've seen a few MCU movies and I thought they were okay for the most part even if I can probably count the MCU movies I've seen on both hands. Actually hold on

1. Avengers: Age of Ultron
2. Ant-Man
3. Captain America: Civil War
4. Thor: Ragnarok
5. Black Panther
6. Avengers: Infinity War
7. Ant-Man and the Wasp
8. Captain Marvel
9. Avengers: Endgame
10. Spider-Man: Far From Home
11. Spider-Man: No Way Home
12. Deadpool & Wolverine

ok, my hands dont have one extra finger each so I guess I was wrong, point is I've seen relatively few of them, and the ones I've seen I've never really had much to say about beyond "yeah I thought it was cool" Except Deadpool & Wolverine that one was peak. I intend to watch them all at some point but it's not something I feel like I need to do ASAP and I'll probably get to it when I can both set aside time for it and when I'm actually interested enough to do so, and I don't know when those two things will align tbh.

Then theres the DCEU... I've seen uh.
1. Man of Steel
2. Batman v. Superman
3. Shazam
4. Suicide Squad (2021)

and thats it basically lol. I don't remember a damn thing about the first two. Suicide Squad 2021 was pretty cool. I personally thought Shazam was amazing. Heard the second one sucks though lol.

So when I first heard about James Gunn's Superman, I didn't really understand much of the hype to be honest. I was never too interested in Superman, most of my interest in the DC universe in general ended at Batman and the characters associated with him/his villains etc if that makes sense. But I heard so many good things about this movie I had to check it out, and honestly? It definitely didn't disappoint.

It was by no means a perfect film, sure. I definitely feel like it was juggling a lot of things and there was a lot introduced that could've been explored more. I can't really get into most of what I mean without spoilers, but there is one thing I'm still a little confused about. What the hell is Krypto's deal? I get that he's also a dog that I'm assuming came from Krypton, but that just raises even more questions. I don't know, it's confusing to me and I'm not sure how to properly explain my confusion, he was a great part of the movie though.

The casting was pretty great, I'll reiterate that I'm not too familiar with any of these characters, but from what I do understand about them, everyone really felt well suited for their roles.

I would say personally for me this is a 10/10. The message of kindness and hope really resonated with me and is something we definitely need right now. It really spoke to me.

Song of the Day: Sufjan Stevens - The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts
Sufjan Stevens had this "Fifty States project" idea where he wanted to write an album for every U.S. State like bro you aint John Linnell (I know Linnell's thing was state songs but still) (btw im joking Sufjan Stevens is a great musician and songwriter) (The song Chicago which is also from this album makes me cry)
